Inverness is the Northern most city in the UK and lies within the Great Glen in the Scottish Highlands. It is the perfect gateway to the stunning lochs and rugged landscapes enjoyed in the area and it would be hard to beat it as a base to access some of Scotland’s best areas of natural beauty and historic interest.

Inverness
Inverness is the Northern most city in the UK and lies within the Great Glen in the Scottish Highlands. It is the perfect gateway to the stunning lochs and rugged landscapes enjoyed in the area and it would be hard to beat it as a base to access some of Scotland’s best areas of natural beauty and historic interest.
Loch Ness is approx. 37km long and in some places as deep as 230m. It is the 2nd largest and 2nd deepest Scottish Loch by area and largest by volume. It contains more water than all the lakes of England and Wales combined. Fort Augustus is at the southern most end with Dores at the northern most end. Urquhart Castle which overlooks the loch is a favourite vantage point for monster spotters. if you don't spot Nessie, you might spot a red deer swimming or otters playing on the banks.
Loch Lomond is Scotland;s biggest loch and Loch Morar is the deepest.

Fort George is thought to be one of the best fortified military defenses in Europe. The Battle of Culloden was the final confrontation of the Jacobite rising in 1745. On the 16th April 1746, the Jacobite Army was defeated by the British Government forces on Drumossie Moor. It was the last pitched battle fought on British soil. George 2nd built Fort George in 1746, in the hopes of putting an end to Jacobite unrest. The site provides an interesting view into the life of a soldier in the 18th Century.

Fort George

It is used by Inverness Town Council for meetings, civic functions, concerts and civil marriages. It is the only building outside of Westminster to have hosted a UK cabinet meeting. In September 1921, Prime Minister, David Lloyd George convened cabinet in face of Secession of Southern Ireland from the UK.

Castle WyndThe Town House is found below Inverness Castle, on the corner of Castle and High Street. It is close to the Museum and Art Gallery and a few minutes from the River. They are perfect for an evening sroll or afternooon walk and are only a short walk from the city centre. Paths are suitable for all abilities. The walk takes about 1 hour and is approx 3 miles but can be shortened. It is an ideal loop for a leisurely 5k. It takes you past Whin Park, Inverness Ice Centre & Botanic Gardens and Inverness Cathedral. Enjoy a whole day out without using the car.

Easy access to all main tourist routes & attractions!
By car, the A9 to the north and south and the West Link Road are only a few minutes from No. 11 providing easy access to all tourist routes, including the North Coast 500. There is a bus stop across from Wester Inshes Court that will take you directly to Inverness City Centre where you will find the Train Station and Bus Station. From the Bus station there is a bus to and from Inverness Airport. Information about taxis and car hire companies can be found in the guest information pack. Tours of the Highlands and Loch Ness can be booked from the bus station.
