It’s a drive from our house to get here but it is worth it. Southernmost tip of the United States. South point cliff jump is here if you’re the adventurous kind. There is a ladder (rickety and rusty) to assist you get back onto land. Water is a beautiful dark blue.

Really show cases the lush and stunning scenery Big Island has to offer. You will need a 4W drive car to drive down, would not recommend doing it without a seasoned local. You can hike into the valley. The scenic view from the valley lookout is beautiful with high sea cliffs looking out to the west.

You can hike into the valley. The scenic view from the valley lookout is beautiful with high sea cliffs looking out to the west.
Great beach to go and hang out for the day. Water is calm and beautiful. If you take a long walk on the beach you will often see honu (sea turtles) basking in the sun. Also next door is a very fun venue called Lava Lava Beach club. It has an amazing view of the ocean, happy hour, and good food. It also has an entire outdoor game area with table tennis, bocce ball, and corn hole. A great place to have some fun with family and friends.

Great waterfall over on the Hilo side of the island you do not have to hike to. Great to take kids and grandparents.

We highly recommend renting a car. Lots to explore!
There is a public bus system but it is not efficient or reliable. Uber and Lyft are available. However, at night there are limited cars driving and may take awhile to get a car.
