Point Cartwright rock pools, beach and lovely walk

We have so many beautiful beaches that it is difficult to recommend just a few. There are the obvious such as the popular Mooloolaba and Noosa, however one of our favourites which is known mostly to locals, is Point Cartwright. On one side you have the open beaches popular with the experienced surfers and on the other is a lovely walk along the rock wall, up to the rock pools and dependant on the tide, there are usually some fun shallow pools for the kids to play in. Head for La Balsa car park (corner of Harbour Parade and Gulai St) and take a walk up Harbour Parade along the rock wall, you can also do a big loop if you head up towards the water tower and back down Pacific Boulevard.

Sandboarding at Carlo Blow, Rainbow Beach (2 hour drive)

So much fun for the whole family! Although a lot of people use thick pieces of cardboard, our tip for the best (and fastest) experience would be to use a decent quality body board. Totally worth the drive even just for the stunning view. The shortest walk to these incredible sand dunes is from Carlo Sandblow car park, 104 Cooloola Dr, Rainbow Beach, Queensland 4581, Australia

Setsail Cruise Mooloolaba

One of our other favourite activities when our family visits is heading out on this glorious Catamaran, cruising along the river in Mooloolaba and then hoisting up the sails for an adventure out on the open ocean. Skipper Brian offers private charters (including the crew) or you can join one of his weekly daytime or sunset cruises. Check out his website www.setsailcruises.com.au

Montville boutique / antique shopping and lunch

Have a break from the sand and the ocean and take a trip to the quaintest little village in rural Sunshine Coast. Not only is it a stunning drive to get there, colourful Montville is full of cute little craft, antique and boutique shops. Make sure to take a coffee / hot chocolate break at Mayfield Patisserie & Chocolates, or have lunch at the more luxurious The Edge restaurant for arguably the most impressive view on the Coast.
