Wonderful Venetian harbour surrounded by kafeneions, tavernas, nearby quaint alleyways with great selection of boutique and craft shops and ancient architecture gives you a real sense of how life was in ancient Crete. Look out also for leather street for quality bags/belts at very reasonable prices.

There are several medium sized supermarkets in Almyrida less than 10 mins drive from the house.
There are two mini-markets and bakery in Gavalochori village which are walking distance. They have a surprisingly good selection so please do try them too.!
