Nearby, classic White Mountains hike with nice views. Beware that some parts of the Dickey trail are a bit like rock climbing. If you plan to do the entire loop starting from Dickey side is best. If you just want a short hike with views, go up the Welch side to the top of the ledges and return the way you came. These are some of the most hiked trails in the whites and can be VERY busy on the weekends, so it pays to start early.

Its a nice road bike ride, with smooth surface (turn on Burbank to come back on Mad River Road).

The rock formation was 1,200 feet (370 m) above Profile Lake, and measured 40 feet (12 m) tall and 25 feet (7.6 m) wide. The site is located in the town of Franconia.
The first recorded mention of the Old Man was in 1805. It collapsed on May 3, 2003.[2]
There is still a view point parking area, and Franconia Notch is beautiful to drive through or stop and visit Franconia Notch State Park.
