Parks & Nature
Located at the heart of the Olympic Discovery Trail, it showcases the Railroad Bridge built in 1915 by the Milwaukee Road. From 1915-1980 the Milwaukee Road operated the rail line, which transported passengers and timber from Port Townsend to Port Angeles and west to connect with several logging railroads. The line was abandoned in 1985. Today the truss and trestle represent the longest bridge over the Dungeness River.

The Dungeness spit is a geographical wonder.The trail to the spit is around 0.5 miles long and a little steep near the bottom. The refuge hosts one of the worlds longest natural sand spits. (5.5 mi.) that ends at the Dungeness Lighthouse (110 Steve Pl. Sequim) The lighthouse is one of the oldest on the NW coast & has daily tours.
There is a $3 fee per family to hike down to the spit, unless you have a discovery pass, in which case your free.
No dogs allowed.
