Quinta da Lontra and the surrounding areas

Sightseeing

10 mins drive from the Quinta, this is a beautiful place to go for a walk, set amongst shady trees and following waterfalls and a smaller river. Historically this area dates back to the Roman era and beyond, and was known for it's numerous watermills that are dotted along the length of the river (Rio Cavalos). The wooden walkways take you alongside and above the rushing waters, with great swimming spots and even a Shanti-style café at the end, where you can sit and admire the view. There is a circular walk of approx 1hr (ask us for more details) or you can just follow the river and return by the same route.
