Food Scene
One of our favorite things to do when in Caransebes is to take a few hours and just go 'cafe hopping'. :) We love the baked treats and cappucinos, coffee in these quaint little cafes. Our favorite is found between the mall and the park in the center on Episcopei Street.

Parks & Nature
This is one rugged hike! We love doing this! It is 15 km from paved roads to the Tarcu peak. One way. :) It can be done up and back in 6-8 hours if you are physically fit. We've done it with family and friends and staying together as a group it was like an 8-10 hr hike, up and back. The scenery is unforgettable. You will never regret doing it! Definitely make sure you go prepared with food, water, and first aid. Better safe than sorry. We recommend getting started on the hike before 10AM as to allow ample time to return before dark.

The Corvin Castle is an amazing place to visit, whether you are a history buff or not! One of the best preserved castles in Europe. It has been used in films, and is an incredible place to visit worth your while. Make sure to check out their hours on their Google Maps listing.

Incredible Roman Ruins dating back 2000 years ago when they overthrew the Dacian Empire. The ruins of a mini colleseum, and various other interesting things are here. Incredible history.

There are 3 convenience stores (Magazin Mixt is what you will see on the signs) in Borlova. Perfect for stocking up on a few essentials without having to run in to Caransebes.

Getting Around
The Timisoara Airport has a car rental service, making it very convenient for your vacation. Fly into Timisoara, rent a car, and in less than 90 minutes you can be at The Little Mountain Cabin.

With good roads all they way. Autobahns until Lugoj, within 40 mintues from the cabin, and from there it is all major 2 lane highways.

With good roads all they way. Autobahns until Lugoj, within 40 mintues from the cabin, and from there it is all major 2 lane highways.

The Muntele Mic Ski Resort is a family friendly, great place to ski, sight see, experience the local culture and just get a good dose of the Romanain wildnerness. At the top of the mountain, it is a convenient destination while at The Little Mountain Cabin, based at the foot of the mountain. The restaurants and ski resort are open from Dec-April, depending on the winters.
