Palazzo di Città lies in the same area which was occupied from the second half of the 13th century onwards by the Town Hall, the centre of power and headquarters for the institutions of the city of Sassari. This elegant building overlooked “Ruga de Cotinas”, the modern day Corso Vittorio Emanuele II, a main thoroughfare between Castle Gate and the Gate of Saint Biagio. The building was the headquarters of the town offices and archive, which for centuries safeguarde it is now both a theatre and a Museum focused on the history of the Town.

Palazzo Ducale was built from 1775 to 1804 by order of Don Antonio Manca, Marquis of Mores and Lord of Usini, Duke of Asinara. Located in the centre of the old town, very close to the Cathedral of Saint Nicholas. The section of the museum called “the Duke’s rooms” completes and enriches the visit to the building, illustrating the history of the most important civic building in Sassari and life as it went on within in the first half of the 1800s. Further excavations have revealed five cellar rooms beneath the floors of the Palace. The itinerary passes along a catwalk suspended above the cellars of the palace.

A savage and very long free beach. You can find even a small beach bar with live music and a very friendly environment. It is a well known surfers den. Three medieval towers sorround the bay, if you're strong enough you can climb the hill to the black tower and get a superb view of the bay.

Probably the most famous beach of the North West. Just in front of the Asinara island, it's absolutely recommended. Unfortunately his popularity makes it very crowded in the summer, but it is worth a visit. Don't miss the fisher village of Stintino too!

This former village of silver miners by the sea has been partially restored and is now a small center with a strong touristic vocation. It offers wonderful small and hidden beaches surrounded by the bitter charm of post-industrial decadence.

This tip is my gift for you. My favorite hidden beach. You'll not find crowd, mass tourism, vendors, yelling children or barking dogs here. Just cristalline water, beautiful sunsets and one of the most authentic Northwestern Sardinian landscape. But everything has a price and you have to walk on a very steep path in order to reach the beach. Also dolphins! (sometimes)
