You are made to feel welcome and special. The wine carousel is a sight to behold. You could spend far too much time sampling the wine and forget the food. But don't because the food is great too and not too expensive for the quality. We would happily go again, and again........

Ever wondered where the condemned criminals spent their last hour, well it was The Last Drop just opposite the site of the gallows. Gruesome, but a great atmosphere.

Known locally as the Lawn Market, the High Street and the Cannongate Leading from the Castle to the Palace of Holyrood the Royal Mile is home to many superb attractions and historical buildings such as The Real Mary King’s Close and St Giles’ Cathedral plus a variety of independent artisan shops selling traditional tartan, Scottish cashmere and delicious foods and drinks. There are also some of the best eating and drinking spots in the city including the famous Witchery Restaurant and the new Cannon Ball very close to the Castle to Angels with Bagpipes half-way down and Wedgewood and the Toll Booth Tavern at the bottom of the mile. You are never far away from some of Edinburgh’s most gruesome history and right on the doorstep is Edinburgh’s Grassmarket which was the city’s main horse and cattle market. It was also the site for public hangings and executions and some of the traditional pubs – The Last Drop for example - take their name from the area’s murky past.

This expansive park is 10 minutes walk from The Secret Apartment. During the spring you can stroll through the cherry blossom lined avenues. In summer it transforms into a lively venue for game, shows, circuses and events. A great place to have a BBQ and watch the world go by.
