A fun day trip, but plan ahead for what to do when you get there. I suggest either the Phillips 26 glacier cruise (I prefer this to the one in Seward) or kayaking, or other means of getting out on the water. Whittier isn't much to look at in town, but once you are out in Prince William Sound, you will not be disappointed! A wall of waterfalls, glaciers within a mile of you, every kind of wildlife you can imagine. Whales, sea lions, seals, birds, bears, even moose. And the water is ALWAYS calmer than in Seward.
