Just down the road from us, Joseph's is the place to go if you're looking for something a bit fancier than the day to day beach food options. They have gorgeous views from their rooftop and patio dining areas and you cannot go wrong with their food and cocktails. A must-do for date night or a brunch date! Half a mile down the beach, in the opposite direction from the pier, is Ocean Park. There are several little shops, the Soda Fountain, shuffleboard, tennis, and more beach fun! Walk down to the end of the beach where it turns into Kinney Shores and explore the area where Goosefare Brook meets the Saco Bay. My (older) kids love body surfing in the current and finding shells and sea glass!

If you have time to dedicate a day to Peaks Island, I highly recommend it! You’ll take a short ferry from Portland’s Old Port and then soon be on the island, exploring. I recommend renting a golf cart (needs to be done in advance, online). There are 2 golf cart companies on the island) so you can explore the entire island. On the opposite side of the ferry terminal there are old military barracks you can walk through. Definitely fun for adults and older kids alike. And several beaches to explore along the way.
