Food Scene

One of the best takeaway Indian curry joints in Edinburgh, right around the corner. Not much space to sit in but you can order online or by phone and they usually are ready in ten minutes. The butter chicken is the best we've ever had.

Artisan Roast is one of the best cafes in the area (and all of Edinburgh). They're friendly, a cute spot, and make delicious coffee and a few tasty baked treats.

Drinks & Nightlife

Fantastic, laid-back pub (favourite of both Sarah and Matt). Described as Edinburgh's only real ale gay pub, but everywhere is welcome :-) Try the Old Rosie Scrumpy! The walk there down London Road is pretty as well.

Absolutely stunning botanic gardens up the road (about a twenty minute walk or take the number 8 bus). Free entrance year-round (except the glass houses, which are worth the price in the summer).

The Water of Leith walkway is a gorgeous walk that takes you through lots of Edinburgh's iconic neighbourhoods from Tudor houses in Dean Village, Georgian splendor in Stockbridge, to the cobblestone streets by the sea in the Port of Leith. You can start the walk near the Tesco grocery in our guidebook or anywhere else. We tend to walk through here every Saturday to the Leith Farmers' Market and it's always gorgeous.

Entertainment & Activities

Edinburgh's legendary comedy club, The Stand has acts at lunch, evening, late, and often times in-between. During the Fringe Festival it's jam-packed with acts but even during the rest of the year you'll find plenty of laughs to be had here!
