Au-Haidhausen is older than Munich itself. What used to be an artists area is now hip and modern. It is full of wonderful squares like Wiener Platz, Weißenburger Platz and Bordeaux Platz. Be sure to see the beer garden at Wiener Platz.

The Friedensengel (Angle of Peace) was built in the same year as the much larger one in Berlin. It is a beautiful 10 minute walk from the Eisbach past the National Museum on the Prinzregentenstrasse. This spot is where locals go to see the sun set. It is a great starting or ending point for a walk along the river Isar.

This is another beautiful spot for sunsets. Locals grab a beer or some wine and sit on the wall below this spectacular building. The 10-15 walk or bike ride (5-7 minutes) down Maximilianstrasse leads past beautiful buildings and over the river Isar.
