Magnificent building synthesizing the Art Deco and the Art Nouveau movements in architecture. The Giacometti foundation offers small but interesting exhibitions there.

Another hidden gem in town. The workshop of artist Chana Orloff who fled once from Jewish persecutions in Ukraine and became later a central protagonist of the Montparnasse artistic network. The heirs organise guided tours (please book in advance) and speak English. The street (villa Seurat) is pretty fascinating too, with modernist houses. The area is partly protected by heritage administration but people still live there

Our favourite bakery from now on. A bit far from the apartment, but worths the trip for their delicatessen : you must try their fresh Bretzels (hurry up they’re sold-out most of the time), kougloffs (kind of brioche) or the very earthy « pain du village ».

A very cool speakeasy with a unique atmosphere. Try the classic cocktail « Chirac 95 », named after our late president (who is buried in the very Montparnasse cemetery nearby)

Delicious and healthy place for a lunch or take away, even better for a brunch on sundays (please book in advance then). They are super kind and serve fresh food. The manager is from Cyprus, and gives a mediterranean feel to the place.

Have a look to the freshly restored Delacroix’s fresco depicting Jacob and the angel. First chapel on the right. The surroundings are very chic, certainly the most expensive square meters in Paris.

If you want to chill and relax, Montsouris park is an enjoyable location. You can go there straight from Denfert-Rochereau place, walking through René Coty avenue. For cinema lovers, it is the penultimate stop of Cléo’s journey in Agnès Varda’s eponymous movie. There is a nice restaurant named Chin-Chin serving drinks and quality food. Nearby, you can walk around to gaze at beautiful houses. Indeed, there is many architectural treasures around, for instance the pink modernist villa Guggenbühl. You’re close to Cité universitaire, an international campus with eclectic buildings, and Paris School of Economics (PSE) where economist T. Piketty teaches.
