Fab gastropub ten minutes drive away from Swallows' Flight, in the pretty village of South Pool. Inventive menu - check opening times though. This village pub runs an Easter duck race usually on Easter Saturday and a live Nativity the week before Christmas.

Five minutes drive or forty minutes walk from us, down on the beach at Slapton Sands. Fresh fish and chips, renowned for big portions and faultless quality. Great low key, family dining in a stunning location.

Beaches & Coastal Path Walks
There are around twenty stunning beaches near us, a different one for every day of your stay! We can show you options on a map - wether you are seeking a beach that is family friendly, surfy, rugged, sandy, pebbly, quiet and secluded or equipped with cafe and toilets and a large car park, or suitable for a picnic, we can recommend options as we know them so well!
Our favourite local walk - park up at the Start Point car park (have to pay at peak times sadly) and there is a track walk down to the lighthouse which has stunning views on a clear day. Or, do the circular route in a clockwise direction encompassing Mattiscombe beach - at the lowest point before the beach you will generally see a colony of seals playing in the waves.

Our favourite local walk - park up at the Start Point car park (have to pay at peak times sadly) and there is a track walk down to the lighthouse which has stunning views on a clear day. Or, do the circular route in a clockwise direction encompassing Mattiscombe beach - at the lowest point before the beach you will generally see a colony of seals playing in the waves.
Beautiful beach and nature reserve - walkable down the hill from us, takes about forty minutes and you're at our nearest beach. Lots of WW2 history to see as troops practised the D Day Landings here. Pebbly, three miles long so you can always find space. Three car parks, two at either end and one in the middle of the beach.

Beautiful beach and nature reserve - walkable down the hill from us, takes about forty minutes and you're at our nearest beach. Lots of WW2 history to see as troops practised the D Day Landings here. Pebbly, three miles long so you can always find space. Three car parks, two at either end and one in the middle of the beach.
Check tide times - this beach is stunning at low tide, like an NZ beach as it is so unspoilt. Very narrow track access and only eight parking spaces, so we recommend going early or late in the day. Occasional surf and lovely walls along the coastal path in both directions to other more remote beaches.

Great surf beach. Parking can be a little pricey in summer as it is so popular. Beware of rip tides coming across under the surf. There is a surf school and a few snack options, also some dunes.
