Be sure to check out the Nature Boardwalk just south of the zoo. A family of beavers live there.

This bird sanctuary is about three miles north of the house on the Chicago Lakefront. I consider it one of the most beautiful places in the city. I go there often in the spring and fall to watch migrating birds. Be sure to visit the pristine sand dunes just east of the sanctuary.
This is one of three local beaches within walking or biking distance of the house. I jog there on summer mornings or bike there in the evenings. It has a great view of downtown Chicago!
