The Spoke, on South Lamar, is one of the last genuine Texas dancehalls and honky-tonks. Everyone from Bob Wills to George Strait to Willie Nelson has played here. Hell, Mick Jagger even stopped in the last time the Stones were in town. Don't worry if you can't two-step; the Spoke offers free dance lessons.

Although our neighborhood is pedestrian-friendly, our mass transit is rudimentary at best. Count on having your own set of wheels to get around. Rental bikes and scooters are also great for short trips.

Barton Springs, just down the hill from our house, is one of the world's great spring-fed swimming pools. We are also close to Zilker Park, Lady Bird Lake (canoes, SUPs and kayaks can be rented), the Barton Creek Greenbelt, the lakeside hike and bike trail, the Umlauf Sculpture Garden, and the Austin Nature Center. Get outside and enjoy!
