Live music

The Spoke, on South Lamar, is one of the last genuine Texas dancehalls and honky-tonks. Everyone from Bob Wills to George Strait to Willie Nelson has played here. Hell, Mick Jagger even stopped in the last time the Stones were in town. Don't worry if you can't two-step; the Spoke offers free dance lessons.

Food scene

Classic Tex-Mex rules in this family-run restaurant that's been around since 1952. Try a Matt's Knockout Martini margarita (founder Matt Martinez was a Golden Gloves champ) and the signature Bob Armstrong Dip.

Delicious BBQ/Asian fusion menu that is the brainchild of barbecue king Aaron Franklin and Uchi's Tyson Cole. Not a bad bite of food on the menu.

Austin is currently in a golden age of barbecue (See: Franklin's, LA Barbecue, Micklethwait Craft Meats), but Terry Black's is in our hood. Great brisket, ribs and turkey. One of Texas Monthly's Top 50 BBQ joints.

Running through the heart of town, Lady Bird Lake is ideal for kayaking, canoeing or SUP-ing (all watercraft can be rented). A beautiful 10-mile hike-and-bike trail encircles the lake and Zilker Park, Fiesta Gardens and Vic Mathias Auditorium Shores provide lots of green space.

Samgöngur

Cars and ride-shares are the easiest ways to get around.

Although our neighborhood is pedestrian-friendly, our mass transit is rudimentary at best. Count on having your own set of wheels to get around. Rental bikes and scooters are also great for short trips.
Ekki missa af

We have lots of outdoor amenities nearby.

Barton Springs, just down the hill from our house, is one of the world's great spring-fed swimming pools. We are also close to Zilker Park, Lady Bird Lake (canoes, SUPs and kayaks can be rented), the Barton Creek Greenbelt, the lakeside hike and bike trail, the Umlauf Sculpture Garden, and the Austin Nature Center. Get outside and enjoy!
