Hike over most recent 2018 Lava Flows!

Hike over the most recent 2018 Lava Flows: Hiking across this new lava requires utmost care because it’s extremely sharp and rough. Along the way, you’ll find a brand new black sand beach southwest of the better known new Pohoiki beach. Although this hike is short, it will take much longer than you think because the hiking is so slow through the new lava flows. https://bigislandhikes.com/2018-lava-flows-hike

Secluded Ha'ena Beach Hike (CHALLENGING)

CHALLENGING HIKE If you are up for a 2 mile hike in, you’ll find our favorite beach: secluded Haena Beach (also known as Shipman Beach). Location: From Highway 130, turn toward the ocean onto Kaloli Drive and follow it to the end of Beach Road, then turn left. Be sure to pack in your own food and water; there are no services, or bathrooms here, and the two mile hike in and out make this hidden beach a gem worth discovering! Please bring out your trash and do not disturb sleeping Honu (turtles) https://www.hawaiimagazine.com/content/tropical-hike-secluded-shipman-beach-big-island
