Etto is absolutely fantastic, winner of a Bib Gourmand in 2014 and 2015. Their plates are a work of art, presentation is beautiful, flavours are incredible. Prunes are never something I would order - but go here and have them. Trust me. This place has a real honest interior, no shiny veneer, more like one of those local places you find in some forgotten Portuguese village. Search for a review and spend the next month with your mouth watering. Reservation a must! Pre-theatre circa €28 pp 3 course.

A little old man's bar with one of the best pints of Guinness in Dublin. Barely changed for the last 30 years - definitely worth checking out ...a stone's throw from apt

Few know about this secret micro-brewery project ..behind those famous black gates on James' St. (Airbnb map is incorrectly showing this as the Storehouse - which it is not.) Meet the brewers and soak up the unique atmosphere inside the walls of an experimental brewery. Some of the beers will end up on at your local pub or the far side of the world. Others will never leave these walls. Only open Thurs and Fri from 5.30pm to 10.30pm. Book online for €6. I recommended this before the Storehouse nearby.

Locals call it the secret garden. This gem is tucked away behind tall walls just off Harcourt St. Total tranquility and a great place the hustle and bustle. It was the earl’s lawn and went on to host the splendour of the Dublin Exhibition Palace in 1865. (It has its own website)

Sightseeing

The walking tour is fantastic, the stories the guides tell are guarantee to captivate locals and tourists alike. Here they will bring you around graves of famous Irish poets, writers, artists, presidents, influencers, chancers, politicians. They make it a really informative and entertaining afternoon. Skip the museum itself. Very modern and hi tech but it doesn't do the rest of the place justice.
