Vereen Memorial Gardens is beautiful, scenic spot! The trails lead through the woods, over the marsh boardwalks, and out to the intracoastal waterway. It's a really fun day hike and as the South Carolina Trails site calls it, a "hidden jewel.

Heather and I really love this spot. It is a simple concept where you may jot down your thoughts and wishes and leave them in this mailbox just off the beach. It is a place of quiet contemplation and peace. Nicholas Sparks based his novel, "Every Breath" on this. It's a nice, three mile hike from the Sunset Beach pier to there and back. A sweet little nature trail is out there, as well. This area at the end of Sunset is called Bird Island and is a natural preserve.

Kindred Spirit mailbox
Heather and I really love this spot. It is a simple concept where you may jot down your thoughts and wishes and leave them in this mailbox just off the beach. Ocean Isle is a fun beach that is a bit busier than Sunset. It's about eight miles north by road or .23 nautical miles for the intrepid swimmer.

We love this little park. Heather and I will bike here, practice yoga, attend the farmer's market, and/or just chill. The annual Sunset Beach race starts from here. Fun!

Southport is 40 miles north of us. It's a quaint little seaside town where lots of films have been shot, including," I Know What You Did Last Summer" and "A Walk to Remember." They also have a great Forth of July parade.
