Rexburg Traveling

This place is a wonderful frontier. I refer to it as the Hawaii of the land tectonic plates. Like Hawaii, there is a hot spot under the plate that has traveled across Idaho and into Wyoming over the past thousands of years. This makes a rich breadbasket in southern Idaho with the Snake River running next to what was once lava flows.
There are hundreds of lava tunnels that dried up to make caves. We also have many old volcanoes across this high mountain, lava flow, desert. The high mountains that surround this desert fill with snow all winter and gradually melt all summer. Many of my favorite peaks are only available for safe climbs near the end of the summer because of the snow pack. This pack feeds not only into the Snake River, but into the large underground Snake River Aquifer which provides moisture for thousands of miles of agriculture along the Snake River Basin from Rexburg to Boise. Amazing produce from this water shed includes Barley for Coors, alphalpha for cows, horses, and even shipped throughout the world. Also, Idaho is one of the largest dairy states with the second largest yogurt factory in the world called Chobani's. All of this makes for rich scenery of agriculture, and almost half of the State of Idaho is public land.

Rexburg still has a drive in movie theater. This is always a unique and fun experience. Tune into the audio on your radio. Privacy within your car and an amazing view. Best with a hatchback or pickup. They even have huckleberry desserts for sale.
