Fire Mountain GrillFood Scene
Elk Burgers and Burgers of all kinds are fantastic and so are the Local Beers and Wines, but the best thing is the view of the Toutle River. Check on their hours to find out what time they close, they are about 20 minutes from this lake house and on the way back down from Johnston Ridge its about 30 minutes from the top of the Mountain. They have indoor and outdoor seating, everyone wants to be next to the river, but the glare is intense - so have your visors and glasses ready.

There are bars, and a delicious bakery, the Flower Shop is worth a stop in as the owners have fun, eclectic taste and really cool flowers and things for the home.

Hummocks Trail
My favorite local hike is about a an hour and 20 minutes loop trail. It’s dramatic scenery and views of Mt St Helens combined with covered forest sections and wide open views of the mountain and hummocks (hills of ash) pack everything into one fairly easy trail. It’s on the way to Johnston Ridge next to Cold Water Lake, about 30 minutes drive from this lake house.
