The Tree House is elevated and built amongst the tree tops. It has a cosy, spacious and light ambience . A short walk through a wooded valley, following a pretty stream with a mill pond leads to a quiet and sheltered cove that's good for swimming with a natural diving pool in the rocks refilled with every tide. Or enjoy the spectacular views of the Pembrokeshire National Park. Please note, bookings between 18th July and 29th August 1 week minimum changeover on Saturday.
The unique location and access to the coastal path and cove is a great draw. There is a sense of being in the trees as it’s built on the side of a National Trust valley which holds the highest conservation status. Also, check out our famous tree swing, just below the property. We moved here because we can just walk out of the house with a cup of tea in hand and stroll to the headland in minutes, stepping into wilderness. My dream was to live in a place with nothing between me and the sea.
The house is 5 minutes drive to St Davids, Britain's smallest city, which has numerous restaurants, cafe's, activity centres including some of the best surfing in the UK and heritage sites. The village of Solva, also 5 mins drive or 20 mins walk, is considered one the prettiest harbour villages in the UK with pubs and shops for visitors as well as boating facilities. You can walk to both along the spectacular coast path and get a regular bus back to the Pink House. Guide Book for The Pink House/Tree House and Shepherds Hut This is by no means an exhaustive list of the places I love to visit or eat and drink in: Solva: Mam gu – Amazing Welsh cakes baked on the premises. Lots of different flavours as well as the traditional version. Based on a recipe passed down in the owners family. Also lovely coffee and a variety of herbal teas as well as food. The Lavender Café in Raoul Speeks Gallery. Eat delicious homemade cakes and drinks surrounded by art and Heather’s photo’s. Strong Cuban influence infused with Welsh flavours. Back coast road between St Davids and Croesgoch near Berea. Perennial Garden and Café SA62 6DB – Newly opened and my very favourite place at the moment. Very interesting range of coffees and teas. My daughter had coffee from Lake Atitlan in Guatamala (having swum in this sacred lake on her Gap Year) and I had Earl Grey with Blue Flowers. The tasty sandwiches came with organic salad. You can also buy bags of salad and the most beautiful bunches of flowers. I’ve decided to cycle across the Dowrog Common to get there next time I visit. The Druidstone SA62 3NE I have always loved “The Dru” as it is affectionately known. A hotel set on cliffs overlooking St Brides Bay. The beach below is accessed down a steep winding path with the best rock pools for blennies we’ve found. Eat in the posh restaurant and watch the sunset or in the cellar bar where you can choose to sit outside on the terrace or in the walled garden. Full of art work and host for various music and drama events. Porthgain Interesting walks through fascinating industrial architecture and coastal walks where you hear and catch sight of Grey Atlantic seal pups with their mothers. Here you can visit the Sloop Pub which has a great outdoor sun trap of a terrace. Watch your children playing on the green as you relax and catch the last rays of the setting sun. Or get fish and chips from The Shed – a restaurant that specialises in local freshly caught fish. Nearby is The Blue Lagoon. Enjoy cliff jumping here, the site of the Red Bull championships. Learn how to jump safely first please – google it! My sons friend dislocated both his shoulders by not taking due care. Well worth the 45min trip up the coast for an outstanding meal in the restaurant or cellar bar or outside in the garden. Children and dog friendly. Great art and ceramics. I am bias of course because my daughter Louise and her husband Ed own the hotel and restaurant / Ceramics by Adam Buick (son-in-law)/Art by a selection of the best artists in Pembrokeshire. While you are there visit The Witches Cauldron, an extraordinary geological feature On a calm day swim through the caves and arches at low tide. And of course visit Whitesands Bay – café and amenities have not spoilt the natural beauty of this wonderful beach. Watc the local surfers zoom down to the beach when they hear the surfs up. I love the walk to St Davids Head from Whitesands. If you’re feeling energetic walk around Carnliddi or up and over the top. See if you can spot the cromlechs that are littered around – a slight exaggeration! On our little hand written map , where Wrecks are written check out this story on google. The 3 tugs were shipwrecked in 1981 the year before we moved here. My children loved playing on them and its well worth a scramble down the well worn (though not obvious) cliff path to see how the beach is strewn with tortured metal from the tugs. Talking about which- in the inaccessible cove beyond Elephants Head (written about by a travel writer in the 50’s as a place that tourists will flock to in the future like they do to Wookey Hole in The Cheddar Gorge) you may spy smugglers steps hewn into the promontory on the Solva side – my children tell me now how they used to climb down them (my blood runs cold at the thought)!! And before I finish this weeney guide book – I want to tell you how I told my daughter off for exaggerating when she said that the sea was really warm in the cove. I had to apologise because I was astonished to find that it was – and I am a real coldy custard. Because the south facing cove has pillars of black rock that get warmed during the day if the tide’s out, they act like storage radiators and warm the water significantly when the tide comes in at the end of the afternoon. (you’ve got to get the conditions just right though) I hope this gives you a taste of this lovely area and what it has to offer. Please let us know in the guest book what you have enjoyed during your stay here.

Pembrokeshire, Bretland

A stunning conversion of a 1,000 year old building by the architect owners who have carefully preserved the character of this medieval treasure whilst creating a generous contemporary home with all the comforts and facilities for modern day living.
Walking around the house you are constantly leaping back and forth across millennia… Beneath the fine old Victorian roof is a spacious and comfortable double-height living area focused upon the elegant Stuv woodburner by night, and countryside views through the 15th Century windows by day… Beyond the Romanesque font are the clean lines of a generous dining area overlooked by a modern kitchen specifically designed to include the old oak altar… And overlooking the main entertaining spaces is a mezzanine gallery with two small (4' double) sofa beds and two workstations, leading to two small bedrooms (4'6" double beds here) in the eaves with fantastic views over the Preseli Hills… And if that wasn't enough there is the boutique hotel bathroom allowing you to daydream in the bath looking out through a medieval window!
High Haven sits in good size simple lawn garden - it is in the original churchyard with some gravestones - and because of its raised position at the head of the valley it has outstanding views of the surrounding countryside to the Preseli Hills. This is a fantastic location for exploring the wonderful West Pembrokeshire coastline and its beautiful beaches and coves – only 3.5 miles to the nearest beaches at Nolton Haven and Druidstone Haven for horse riding along the beach, and another few minutes to the charming fishing village of Little Haven and the dramatic expanses of Newgale famous for surfing and land yachting. Our favourites are Settlands beach which you can only reach at low tide from Little Haven (very Famous Five!), and 5 miles to the spectacular Marloes Sands (Guardian 'Searching for the Perfect Beach'). It is located adjacent to a working farm run by very neighbourly John brothers and within the tiny hamlet of Lambston just outside the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park, and in the countryside between Haverfordwest and the coast which are both 3.5 miles away.

It is a light and airy two bedroom house with an open plan kitchen, living, dining room with a log burner. There is one shower room and an en-suite bathroom/laundry room. The Mill House also has a patio, terrace and a hot tub. Situated in the breathtaking Pembrokeshire National Park, it is a stones throw from the beach and coastal path. There is also a pub and restaurant a few steps away.
50 meters from the beach, this private upside-down cottage sleeps up to four people in two spacious rooms. One king size bed in the master bedroom and the other bedroom can be adapted to guest preference with either a double or twin beds. An adjoining door from the main room takes you through to The Store, which previously held food supplies but now functions as an ensuite. There is a bath with shower attachment and laundry facilities including a washer drier, airers, iron and ironing board. THE GRANARY- The second bedroom is where the mill mechanism which once ground the corn for the mill was housed. This spacious room can be adapted to guest preference with either a double or twin beds. The quirky separate wet room echoes the circular shape of a millstone and features a rainfall shower. UPSTAIRS This open plan A-frame upstairs room has lots of character, with an exposed stone wall separating it from the barn room. It contains a fully equipped kitchen including dishwasher and espresso machine. The dining and living area has a roomy table and comfy seats around the log burner. OUTSIDE SPACES There is an outside door from The Store which leads you to the hot tub. Here guests have star gazed, devoured books in the sun, marveled at fiery sunsets and even enjoyed the bubbling hot tub in a shower of rain. The living area double doors lead out onto the enclosed terrace which has a table and chairs for alfresco dining or just enjoying your morning coffee while listening to the waves. There is also a charcoal BBQ (seasonal) and steps down towards the beach. EXTRA INFO Free off street parking for multiple cars. Smoke free, pet and family friendly with free wifi throughout. Nolton Haven is a small hamlet next to the beach on the Pembrokeshire Coast Path. The beach is dog friendly year round, clean, shallow and has lifeguards everyday during the summer school holidays. It is surrounded by two headlands which can provide shelter from the wind, or the promise of small caves to explore. There is a stream to dam or paddle in, rock pools to hunt for crabs and sea anemones. Enough space for paddle boarders, kayaks, canoes and swimmers. There is a pub and a restaurant (booking advised) next door. Roch and Broadhaven only a short distance away both have local shops with basic essentials. Nolton Haven is also situated close to Haverfordwest for grocery shopping, and its central location makes it a good base for other attractions.

This is a basic, comfortable and clean chalet in a sheltered location within walking distance from the amenities and beach in Broad Haven. The chalet is quite private in the location of an old stone quarry with a pond and has off road parking. There are facilities to self cater and gas central heating and a shower. There is a shed which has bike/board storage. It is in the grounds of a family home and is pet/dog friendly. A baby/toddler bed with bedding and highchair are available.
The chalet is located in a disused wooded quarry next to a stream and pond on a quiet lane on the outskirts of Broad Haven. It is in the grounds of a family home, but is quite private. It is a 10 minute walk into the village to the beach, shops and pubs. There are lots of walks you can set off from from the chalet.
The chalet is just up a small lane on the outskirts of Broad Haven. It is a lovely peaceful spot, yet it is only 10 minutes walk to the seafront and the shops/cafes and pubs in Broad Haven and a 30 minute walk to the picturesque village of Little Haven. The funky Druidston hotel is a 40 minute walk North on the coast path. Small but well equipped twin bedroom annexe with ensuite wet room and separate entrance for guests with own key. Sits centrally on the Dale peninsula - ideal for trips to Skomer island and Pembrokeshire's best beaches! This is an annexe bedroom to our home - a beautiful barn conversion equidistant between Dale and Little Haven. We are far from the madding crowd tucked away behind an old Manor House. This listing is for the annexe bedroom only, not the whole barn.
The Accommodation:- Guests will have a small twin bed room with a contemporary en suite wet room. It has its own separate entrance and guests will have their own key providing privacy and flexibility. It has recently been refurbished and redecorated from an old outbuilding and is full of character and charm. There size of the annexe does not allow for a kitchen or lounge area the room contains tea and coffee making facilities together with a mini fridge. We leave available a simple breakfast of muffins (in a cake tin), granola and orange juice for breakfast which guests have in their room. There is a flat screen wall mounted TV and two arm chairs. There is a walk in cupboard in which to hang clothes and a chest of drawers. To the front is the main garden and a patio by a wildlife pond which guests are welcome to use in fine weather. Location:- We are in a very rural location in the middle of the countryside between Dale and Little Haven although technically we come within the parish of St Ishmaels. To enjoy our home, you must relish tranquillity and remotenss! We live in a converted barn behind an old Manor House, it is accessed via a driveway from the nearest lane. Please do read directions before you come. The nearest village is St Ishmaels (one mile away) with a pub called The Brook which serves reasonably priced pub food (note - in Winter, food only served on certain days of the week). Dale is three miles in one direction and Little Haven is three miles in the other. Both these have excellent pubs serving great food. (Note- The Griffin in Dale is closed from November to Easter) . The nearest towns are Haverfordwest and Milford Haven -10 and 7 miles away respectively. You will need a car as there is no local bus service. Local Area:- The attraction of the area is the stunning coastal scenery, the coastal path and the beautiful beaches of Marloes, West Dale, Little Haven, Broad Haven, Druidstone and Newgale. Further along the coast is the pretty village of Solva and the Cathedral city of St Davids (the smallest city in the UK) which is really a very pretty large village and is well worth a visit. It's about 20 miles away. It is ideal for those looking to stay in Pembrokeshire for a few days and particularly suitable if you are planning a trip to Skomer Iskland. We are just 10 minutes from Marloes and 15 minutes to St Martins Haven where the boat leaves for Skomer. Catering:- Our accommodation is not self catering as the space does not allow cooking equipment or a dining area but if you wish to bring back home made pizzas from Camille's in Marloes and are happy to eat them from your armchair- no problem! (Camille operates from home and makes the most fabulous pizza's but it it is a seasonal facility so please do check with us that is open before relying on a take home pizza). There are plenty of good eateries within a few miles and most if not all of our guests eat out. We leave available a simple breakfast of muffins /pastries (in a tin) orange juice and tea and coffee in the room for breakfast. Another option is to pop up the road and have a wonderful cooked breakfast at St Ishmaels Garden Centre (5 mins drive). Unfortunately we are not in a position to offer a cooked breakfast for guests . Hugh and I are both busily retired, we have two very friendly dogs and a couple of horses! There is parking for one car.
The Dale peninsula is situated in the very west of Wales. It is perfect if you enjoy walking, boating, cycling or surfing. Pembrokeshire is renowned for its beaches and stunning coatal path along the cliffs. We are very fortunate to have some of Pembrokeshire’s best beaches within a stone's throw. West Dale, Marloes, Little Haven, Broad Haven, Druidstone and Newgale are all within easy driving distance. The ferry port to Skomer island is only 15 minutes away. Dale is renowned for its microclimate and is reputed to have more hours of sunshine than any other village in Wales. It is generally mild and very often sunny even when just ten miles inland, it is gloomy with either rain or onimous clouds. There are great pubs close by- check out The Griffin (Dale) and the Castle, St Brides Inn and The Swan (Little Haven).
