As you step through the arch you are transformed into another time and place. Quiet, private behind the walls of the Hacienda style home. The gardens are lush and filled with birds of all kinds. There are several vignettes to relax and watch nature.
A romantic cottage retreat in a colorful Sonoma country setting that is close to the Sonoma Square by 1 mile. Tropical gardens, quiet, relaxing, colorful and one-of-a-kind. It is an experience to be remembered.
You will feel transformed to another era as you step into the sheltered walls of the 2 acre adobe compound and surrounded by 6 more.
The Hacienda was built by our own blood, sweat, and joy. Once you walk through the arched wall you are transformed to another place. We are told by people who walk through the gates that they feel like they are in the south of France, Italy, or Mexico. Our neighbors said it looks like an Italian villa.
The view of the grounds is full of tropical plants and colors. There are lush gardens and pathways to roam on and enjoy the lavender or sunflowers that are a hit each year when they bloom. You can dine under the oak tree or relax in the evening by the fire pit!
There are several places to hang out, eat, or play on the three lawn acres within the walls. However, your 1 bedroom cottage has its own private outdoor eating area and two patios to sit in, barbecue, or dine out under the old oak tree lit by an artistic chandelier at night. Sometimes our guests join us outside to eat and drink the many delicious wines from our hometown.
The sunsets are heavenly as the light changes to a warm golden hue that is so beautiful that you try to absorb every moment with your eyes or a camera.
In the summer you can help harvest the lavender or pick a bouquet of wildflowers or giant sunflowers and there is an organic vegetable garden that you are welcome to gather from.
We are only a little over a mile from the Sonoma square and you can easily see the fireworks from our lavender field.
The main house and grounds are available for events of all kinds.
The Casita has thick plastered walls with rich colors reminiscent of old Europe and a fireplace to get cozy by. The floors are all heated and the 3 rooms are built with old beams and vaulted ceilings.
The Casita has a sitting room, bathroom, and bedroom - all separate rooms from one another.
The walls are made from a green product and are 12 inches thick, so it stays warm at night yet cool on hot days and very quiet at nights.
Old and new come together: there are heated floors, French doors in both rooms that overlook the garden, European fixtures, large Mexican tile shower for two with a window that opens to red geraniums and wisteria.
The shower is open, private, and built for 2 with a window to view the garden. If you so inclined, there is a rustic outdoor bamboo-enclosed shower that is fabulous on a starry or full moon night.
The Casita is located in a separate building from my other listing.
There is an acre of gardens, fountains, and seating areas for you to enjoy the ambiance of Sonoma. Guests have access to all the areas ( which are many) to sit and enjoy a glass of wine. In June there is the 200 plants of lavender that are in bloom. Then the sunflowers come out in July and then again in August. There is a fountain with a fire pit nearby.

We live on the property in the Main House. The property is large enough that you can have your private area to enjoy or join us for a glass of wine at sunset.

We have a dog named Poochini who seems to be the most popular one here. Then there is the cats Mona Lisa and Michelangelo. They are always ready for some loving.
We’ve built our home for privacy and quietness with the enjoyment of nature and outdoors. We live in a rural country setting and our property is most fitting for guests who love nature in its fullness.
We insist that you enjoy yourself and ask us if there is anything else you need. And have fun!
Smoking is allowed outside away from open doors. We do not allow pets at this time.
Lover of color and light! That includes gardening ( two acres) creating rooms outside. Photographer, designer of fashion ( glamour yoga wear) wedding gowns, ( I paint them now). We love to create events with ambiance and share with all who come through the arch. I give classes on expressing yourself with paint and palm leaves on silk scarves, redesigning clothing, furniture and the way one lives.
Roger is always building and creating, an arbor, gates, doors (out of an old water tank) or pouring concrete for a fountain for La vida Hacienda. We like combining the old with the new, and the feeling like we are always on vacation. We love eating outside and having casita guests share their stories, while we all enjoy the good food and wine available in this area.
We built this place ourselves. Roger is an architectural engineer and wanted to create a lasting home, so it is built out of styrofoam and concrete with an old world ambiance. There are huge old beams salvaged from a bridge, windows and doors from France, and handcrafted items. Nothing is typical and you truly feel you are in another world.
