This lovely 1600 sq ft space is suitable for longer stays, as a staycation, a business trip or a work from home alternative. Close to Victoria General Hospital and Camosun College. There is a desk in bedroom #2 for those on business. From the front door you can take off for a walk/run through beautiful trails in the area. There are 3 parks nearby. It's a 20 minute drive to downtown, or 25 minute cycle on our beautiful Galloping Goose Trail. City bus is a 10 minute walk away.

Due to the coronavirus, we're taking extra care to disinfect frequently touched surfaces between reservations. We want to share our cleaning guidelines with our guests, so we have left a copy of the guidelines, along with our house manual and tourist guidebook, for you to read. We will also make sure there is extra cleaning supplies available to you.
There is always a good supply of condiments, spices, tea and coffee provided. You will also find a fully equipped kitchen with a place setting for 10. Also: 2 French press’, an electric coffee pot, an electric hand mixer, blender, rice maker, a full set of sharp kitchen knives. If you don’t see something that would be nice to have, please let me know. If you are a cyclist and have brought your bikes, I will provide secure storage in my garage. Please request ahead of time. There are 5 grocery stores located close by.
The Airbnb is located on the second (main) floor. There are 13 stairs to access this area, but once there you will find a warm and inviting space, with beautiful gardens, and an enclosed patio at the rear of the house. During the pandemic we will ensure that this lower patio is left for your exclusive use. There is also a patio off the dinning room for your exclusive use. Either patio would be a wonderful way to start your day with a coffee. I hope that you enjoy the garden as much as I do.
There is also a couple of restaurants within a 10 minute walk. You will note these on the google map provided. There is also pizazz gourmet pizza take out restaurant in the small mall at Wilkinson and Interurban. It does not show up on Google maps.
I reside on the ground level of the house, with my own private entrance. I like to travel and have embraced the Airbnb lifestyle so will not always be home. Along the way I have met a lot of super people. I would love to meet all of my guests, however, at times may be away.

-The neighbourhood is quiet and safe. You can actually take off for a good walk or run practically from the front door. If you go right you will walk through a field and then hook up with Panama Flats. It is home to waterfowl; rare plants and endnagered bird species. It is a nice walk or run. I you go to the left and head to the top of the street, you will see a trail. Follow this trail and you will walk through urban areas, parks, wooded areas with Colquitz River (creek) running through it. If you google Colquitz River Trail it will give you a pretty good overview.

Parks for children in the area:
Copley East Park. It is accessed off Vanalman . Rosedale Park. Accessed off Santa Anita Ave. These parks are great for small children.

-Camosun, Interurban Campus, it is a 20 minute walk from the house, or a short bus ride.

Event Centers close to your location: Commonwealth Pool is a -6 minute drive from the house. The home of many of the local and International Swimming competitions in Victoria. It Has a great gym overlooking the pool. The Beach House, a popular wedding venue, is 10 – 15-minute drive from the house. The Horticulture Center of the Pacific is also a very popular wedding venue and public gardens with a cafe and is a 5 minute drive. Butchart Gardens is a 15 minute drive or a easy 40 minute cycle. There is a farmers market nearby as well as a couple local supermarkets.

Things to see and do outdoors.

One of the things about Victoria that I love, is that there always seems to be interesting events happening throughout Greater Victoria which are free of charge. Try: Calendar of Events/Destination Greater Victoria.

. Mt. Doug Park/Beach – is a 15-minute drive or 30 min cycle from the house. Turn right on Wilkinson, continue straight until you reach Mount Doug Park, Beach to the left and hiking trails to the right. including ‘the Mt. Doug hike’, if you reach the top it is a fabulous view of the city. Warning: it is, considered a challenging hike.

. Thetis Lake is a 10-minute drive and about a 30-minute cycle from the house. This lake is very popular for all ages. It is great for small children as the lake drops of gradually. There is also great hiking around the lake. It is not a difficult hike for the most part and the views are stunning. You can also swim off the rocks in many places along the hiking trails.

. Sooke Pot Holes is another popular place to visit. It is a 45-minute trip by car. It is also a favorite day trip for cyclists. You will pass Glenn Lake and Matheson Lake along the way. Both nice places to stop. There is an amazing restaurant, Glenn Rosa Farm Restaurant just off the Galloping Goose on Rocky Point Road. You would turn left off the Galloping Goose, down the hill a short distance and turn left into the restaurant. The setting is rural and peaceful. You can eat inside or outside on the veranda. Definitely worth the stop. I would suggest phoning ahead and making reservations.

Directions to Access the Galloping Goose trail from the house.
To reach the Galloping Goose Trail from the house you turn left onto Wilkinson road. You can either travel this portion on the road or use the pathway on the left-hand side of the road heading to Interurban. The pathway is a safer way to go, especially if you are not an experienced cyclist. Once you reach the 5-way stop turn left onto Interurban Road if you are on the road, or if you have taken the pathway, push the walk button at Interurban and Wilkinson to cross. You now proceed south on Interurban, along wide shoulders until you reach a controlled crossing. You will see Colquitz Middle School to your left. This is where you will make a left hand turn up a steep trail and onto the Goose. You can also use the controlled stop light to dismount and cross the road. Once at the Goose turn right and stay on this route all the way to Sooke Pot Holes, or left and head into downtown Victoria.
. Beacon Hill Park is a 25-minute drive or cycle, it takes about the same amount of time, located in the downtown area of Victoria. There is a petting Zoe for the children, and beautiful gardens. It is a lovely space to spend some time in. You can also stop at the Beacon Drive In Restaurant for a hamburger, or their soft ice cream cones. My favorite.

. There are many more sites to visit. I have mentioned only a few.

I am a retired woman who enjoys meeting new people and learning about other cultures, and their local foods. I love travelling, cycling, gardening, cooking, reading, staying fit, and basically enjoying life. My garden is the place where I find peace when life gets a bit much. I hope you will enjoy the garden, as well. As I mentioned, I enjoy cycling, and have spent time cycling in Europe, Quebec and on Vancouver Island. It is a great way to travel and meet new people. I have looked after international students for the past 6 years and found these girls pretty amazing, and fun. Life is never dull when they are around.
