My place is within walking distance from the Kimberton Village, which is home to a local whole foods store and top quality restaurants. We are also a short drive from Phoenixville and Valley Forge Historic National Park; within an hour to Philadelphia.

You should note that we have a sweet cat. You will need your own transportation. My place is good for solo adventurers and business travelers.

See you soon!

Annað til að hafa í huga

*This room is in the same home as "Cozy Room #2 in Kimberton" should you be traveling with someone and want separate rooms or a space for two. Occasionally, people inquire about two people in this room.

*There is a cat who can go in and out of the house. Be aware of her gifts left around...

*I have two Airbnb listings and there will most likely be one or two guests sharing the bathroom. It is rare that this causes wait time. I can facilitate timing if I know when you need to be out the door.
*Parking is onsite. The general guide is to park so three cars can come and go as they need to. Most often there is a truck in the back part of the driveway and this is not a concern for the parking/leaving needs.

As always, staying at Zalene's place is just like being at home away from home. I love visiting her and catching up with her. I would definitely recommend her place to anyone visiting the area. Zalene is an outstanding host and i already look forward to seeing her again!

Did you ever go to restaurant because of all the rave reviews on Yelp only to be thinking, "What were all those people smoking when they ate where I just did." This is kind of metonymous to that. I booked this flat last minute and was surprised to be told (after the booking was accepted) that there was another boarder at the house which is in stark contrast to what the add reads, (e.g. one bed, one person, one bath). When I arrived, I found a rather creepy young lady with some sort of odd mental problem camped out in the other bedroom and rather territorial about the lavatory. Creeped out, I cancelled the next night but not before freezing in the room and having my legs jammed up against the bed because of a bar blocking the footer. I'm only 5 8' so it was not me. After lamenting to the host, she admitted she was aware of this women's oddities but did not want to refund the 2nd night. I had to call AirBNB to straighten it out. Don't let the new age aura of the place fool you. When money's involved, pleasantries disappear.

People ask me if I have had any situations that caused concern while being a host. Until Michael’s visit, my reply was not a one! I’ve had wonderful guests; it’s awesome. Because this is the first guest that I will not recommend, I have spent time processing it and taking care that this is not a reactive action. I’ve waited a week to write the review keeping an eye on the reasons he cited for wanting to leave. I find his method questionable and his visit raised questions that I will share. I will also try to be succinct; this is also my longest review ever! The request to book began in a familiar manner with an inquiry and approval. The request came later in the day while I was traveling home; about 2 hours away. I let M know I would be able to make the room up at 07:30pm. He agreed to this and as I was driving home we communicated via the Airbnb app. His stated reason to be in the area was to visit family, although, he didn’t want to stay with them because it was loud and chaotic there. We continued to communicate, although I could only pick up messages when I was stopped so I missed his message that he went to the house and tired to get in. He also messaged me saying, “We made good time and are here. Is there a key code?” I usually provide the key code, yet we had an agreement that he would come after 7:30pm, so I thought. I was also surprised that he said “we” and asked if there were another person to which he said not. I was on a conference call and heard my other guest greet him pleasantly and he seemed to find his way to his room. When I went upstairs he heard me in the kitchen and came out of his room to greet me. It was a pleasant exchange and no indication of any distress or uneasiness. I’m unsure if he understood that I was in the house the whole time. I did not see him until after 11:00am the next morning when he pulled into the driveway and got out holding the key from the key box and tried to put it in my hands. My hands were full and wet from washing bicycles with a special needs man I was working with. I asked him to please put the key back in the box, which he did. This is when the questions began for me. Why did he have the key with the pipe cleaner and note on it asking that it be left in the key code box? M’s first words were that he wanted to leave. When informed of the 24 hour cancellation policy and that he was past it he muttered that he would take it up with Airbnb or he would just take the $ loss. Well, that is exactly the process to revise a reservation so I had no argument with that. He then went on to say that the other guest in the house was weirding him out, she took extensive showers, seemed special needs (and he would know it because he was a special needs teacher), and I should have told him there was someone like that in the house…well, I had met her when she arrived and been away the next night and had returned the night Michael arrived. I was alarmed that he was saying she was in the bathroom for what seemed like long showers to him. I said I would speak with her and get the bathroom times organized as needed. I asked him if he couldn’t stay the one more night he was booked and he said he “was too uneasy with the other guest. I should have told him she was special needs….he works with ‘them’ all the time.” I shared that I do too. I didn’t know her to be so, except for some physical challenges and I would talk with her regardless as she was booked for a month. I had shared with Michael that there was another guest in the house. I try to make sure guests know about the activity in the house. He said he had never had such an Airbnb experience. I said that I had never had such an experience between guests either. Before these words were out of my mouth he turned on me saying I couldn’t use his argument (paraphrased)…I said, “Michael, I’m not arguing; I’m sharing my experience”… He also muttered that he would go stay with his family. He went into the house to get his belongings and when he came out I apologized that he had not had a satisfactory time. I invited him to send me a revision which he did not acknowledge, nor did I receive one via Airbnb. Why was he so intolerant to the other guest? I’ve spent a week mindful of her actions in the house and nothing matches up to what Michael reported. I asked her if she had met Michael and how it had gone. I asked her about monopolizing the bathroom. I asked her if there was any reason for him to believe she had intellectual disabilities that she could recall (this was a tough one and she was astounded that he would have thought her “retarded”). I’m left with an unsettled feeling that M was not honest or straight up and made up a sad story about another guest for what reasons are still unclear. How can someone profess to be a special needs teacher have such disdain and intolerance for someone he incorrectly perceived to be special needs? Should you have another guest in your house I would be cautious about saying yes to Michael. This is the first guest I, sadly, will not recommend. Additionally, he never mentioned the bed. I never heard from Airbnb; the customer service folks are awesome!

I am truly invigorated by the Airbnb experiences I am having. I enjoy the diverse guests and learn something each time. Trust is part of this community and I am aware of how this goes both ways. There's a great Ted talk by the founder of Airbnb about this experience...I've been grateful to be a first time experience for many guests and clearly recall what my first guest experience was like!

My interest is to provide a peaceful place for you to land while you take care of your business while in the area. I have learned more about what is happening in the area by the focus of my guests and their reasons for visiting. I am grateful for that exchange and awareness, too.

I am beginning to enjoy guests who repeat their stays, indicating they found a place that supports their needs at a reasonable cost. Snippets of conversation and life are valued!

I like most things healthy: food, exercise, the great outdoors and non-toxic relationships.
Mission on the planet: to make a positive difference; learn and grow compassion. (Wow, was I challenged this year: 2016!).

I've always had a 'unique' streak. Alternative views, the road less travelled, embracing diversity and a passion for living and exploring-through travel or my own backyard. I enjoy movies, reading, gardening, cooking, dancing, music and can also embrace silence.

I like to leave possibilities for spontaneous explorations in between plans while traveling. I can be comfortable backpacking and in a 5* setting. I do tend to be frugal at the end of the day enjoying the best things in free(dom).
