Wine and olive oil enthusiasts will find wineries, presses and mills around the area. It's a great starting point to explore the whole island of Crete. Because it’s in the south part of Crete, even in the windy days you can find a beach that’s calm enough for swimming. The Minoan palace of Faistos, the archeological site of Gortyna, the cave-graves of Matala are also only 10 minutes away.
