Nestled along the Mississinewa River near James Dean's hometown, Taylor Univ and Indiana Wesleyan Univ, we were originally named Harrisburg, until the natural gas boom of the 1800s. The town was renamed Gas City boasting to grow to a pop of 50 thous, but sadly the gas wells dried up.
