Dan y Coed means 'under the trees'. Our cottage has nestled under the wooded hillside of Tan yr Allt for 200 years. The cottage is on the outskirts of Llanidloes, a 10 minute walk to town. We pride ourselves on guest satisfaction and the cottage is equipped to a high standard. We welcome all people and well behaved pets (downstairs). The Granary cottage is a beautiful self catering rural retreat, a lovely barn conversion with open plan kitchen/sitting room with wood burner. It is located in beautiful upland Montgomeryshire mountain on the eastern escarpment of Bryn y fan on the Cambrian Mountains and has spectacular 35 mile views down the Trannon & Severn Valleys with distant mountains cradling the view, situated at 1100 feet. With a large flat terrace garden ideal for bbqs, children and for games, badminton, football etc

The area is beautiful, ranging from fertile farm land in the valleys to mountainous regions with lakes and forests. For visitors with time to walk and explore, the countryside is perfection. The nearby Hafren Forest, from which the Rivers Hafren (Severn), Wye and Rheidol rise, has many signposted walks.

The chalet is located on the same site as the main house and has stunning views out across the Banwy valley. It is centrally located within easy reach of Dolgellau, Machynlleth and Welshpool where guests can participate in a wide range of activities from hillwalking to mountain biking. We are dog friendly but do have dogs on site so only friendly, well behaved ones please.
