Ballater is an attractive riverside village in rural Aberdeenshire with many amenities including an interesting Golf Course. There are significant Royal Connections with Balmoral Castle, the summer residence of the Royal Family only a short drive away.There are a good number of places to eat, catering for many tastes as well as a well stocked supermarket. Outdoor activities include many walks and Biking trails with two bike hire sources in the village and the Cairngorms are not too far away.

The Hideaway, perfect retreat near the Cairngorms

The Hideaway nestles into the foothills of the Cairngorms Naional Park, built of traditional granite stone, hand built by the owner over a 4 year period, features 18 douglas fir truses providing an inspiring environment for guests with the open plan layout: the family room, kitchen and dining area. Self contained annexe in the heart of Royal Deeside. The 'bothy' is a 1 bedroom home attached to our converted farmhouse. Downstairs has a spacious fully-equipped kitchen/living area with sofa bed and log burner. Upstairs is a double bedroom and shower room. Just 6 miles from Ballater, and in the Cairngorms National Park, the Muir of Dinnet Nature Reserve is on our doorstep with walks and cycle routes. Close by is Tarland Trails 2 mtb centre. Our property has bike wash and storage.

The Farm Bothy Cottage

The Farm Bothy cottage offers luxury accommodation on a working sheep farm. It is self-contained, within a modern steading/barn conversion. We live in the other wing of the house. You can explore the farm, woodlands and our garden. Ideally located for visiting nearby castles and distilleries the area also has great cycling, golfing, fishing and horse-riding. Our local pub is a mile away. The nearest town, Alford, has a pub, restaurant, shops, supermarket, parks and museums.

Couthie Cooshed in the Cairngorms

Lovely holiday cottage in the Cairngorms for two with open plan kitchen living area, cosy sleeping gallery, contemporary shower room and private patio. The Couthie Cooshed is cosy well appointed and is set in a private garden on the edge of fields. This barn is a wonderful place to relax and unwind in the country surrounded by fields and wildlife.
