The Blue Cow Barn - Betsie Cottage

The Blue Cow Barn Accommodation is situated on a working farm, 1km from Barrydale town centre. Our farm has gone through many seasons - from a fruit farm to a dairy farm and now a guest farm. Our cottages are named after the cows that were part of the dairy and Betsie is our most flamboyant and eccentric cottage and cow. You'll love this cottage as it is situated in the original farm barn that dates back to the 1960's and the gorgeous mountain view. This cottage also has access to the hot tub.

The Tree Top Studio • SOLAR POWER • Unique stay

A family-friendly studio located next to the river in one of Swellendam’s residential neighbourhoods. The studio boasts magnificent views of the garden and enormous rubber tree, creating a unique treehouse-like experience. You’ll have high-speed WiFi and solar power, perfect for remote working. Want a not-so-in-town feel? Then this is the place for you. The studio is a 5-minute walk to the nearest supermarket/midtown and a 13-minute walk to the old town with quaint restaurants, shops and cafés.

Upstairs on Hellier

Upstairs on Hellier is a calm, private space ideal for couples, solo travellers, creatives, and anyone seeking rest and simplicity. This spacious open-plan loft features a comfortable King size bed with High quality linens, a cosy sitting area, and a well-equipped kitchenette with fridge, kettle, microwave, and tea/coffee station. Whether you’re stopping over or staying a little longer, Upstairs on Hellier provides a comfortable, grounding base for your Barrydale stay. No animals or children.

Cottage in private game reserve, Little Karoo

Off grid cottage set in the heart of the Little Karoo within the Touwsberg Nature and Game Reserve. The reserve is well known for it's biodiverse fauna and flora and stunning scenery. Located off Route 62, midway between Barrydale and Ladismith, accessible with an average car/sedan, that has at least 17cm off ground clearance. The Cottage is well equipped, with indoor fireplace, cosy and completely private - the perfect Winter stay. Note: cell/3G reception requires a 2 minute walk; no wifi.

Kuno Karoo on 62

This delightful cottage is in the heart of the quaint and queer town of Barrydale. It oozes character, and is a lovely place to stop over, or rest a few days and simply unwind. A beautiful, double volumed open plan space features a living room downstairs, with a sliding door opening to the main bedroom, and a large eat in kitchen/ dinning area upstairs with access to a terrace with views for Africa. The perfect place for a couple looking for a romantic retreat, or a family on a road trip.

Tucked away in the heart of the charming village of Barrydale, along the scenic route 62, AARDE, offers a unique blend of comfort and small-town charm. Just a stroll from local shops, galleries, cafés, restaurants, this private cottage is the perfect base for your Karoo adventure. Spend your days exploring nearby villages, wine routes, nature reserves, bike and hike rides, or simply unwind in your private garden oasis. Aarde regrettably cannot accommodate infants/children or pets.

The Red Rooster

Surround yourself with the art of the local artist Joan Peeters, wander through an indigenous garden or sit on the patio surveying the mountains. the Red Rooster is a private cottage in its own garden . Located in a quiet part of Barrydale with easy walking access to restaurants and shops. This cosy, comfortable cottage sleeps 1 couple downstairs.Should you wish seperate beds , which are in the loft, an extra R 200 will be charged per person. It has a fully equipped kitchen.

Mez Karoo Cottage

This unique dwelling sits un the heart of the village and yet offers serenity and quiet. It has a wonderful view over the garden and village onto the Langeberg mountains. Compact yet spacious. King size bed or twin beds option. And a walk in shower. The kitchen has an induction 2 plate and microwave. And the option to have hands on cooking classes for The Kitchen Couple by Michelle Berry who owned the well known Mez Karoo Kitchen is also an option!
