One of the world’s oldest wine regions, dating back about 3,500 years, this Greek island has recently begun to gain international acclaim for its quality and affordable pricing.
My name is Lida and I'm a born and bred Cretan, a trained chef, a sommelier and an anthropologist. I specialise in communicating Greek culture, cuisine and wine in digital and online environments. I have been working as a Greek food and wine ambassador for over 8 years, now.
You'll be greeted with a Cretan herbal infusion and appetizers as you meet me at my kitchen. During the workshop, we will get to taste a wide range of wines from celebrated Cretan grapes, like Vidiano. The wines will be accompanied by delicious food pairings; Cretan cheese (like graviera and galomizithra, different types of honey (like wild thyme and flowers) and traditional handmade preserves (like grapes and sour cherries). Take a journey around Crete over glasses of delicious wine!
You will leave with numerous tasting tips, great knowledge about Cretan wines and new friends, of course!

I am a trained chef, an anthropologist and a sommelier, focussing on food and the senses. I have a diverse professional experience in the food and the arts.

I have worked in professional kitchens in Greece and London, consulted artisan food companies, joined food conferences and culinary seminars and organised cooking classes, wine tastings and pop-up dinner experiences. I have also been writing and developing recipes and working at Borough Market for five years. In addition, Ι was a volunteer for social kitchens for refugees in Athens.

I have been teaching food workshops for over 2 years now. My workshops are inspired by the intersection of food heritage, culture and history.

Staðsetning

The location is special as it's at my family's seaside apartment complex at Stalida, Crete. My kitchen is in a beautiful leafy garden, and we will enjoy our meal by the terrace, al fresco!
We will be listening to the sounds of the sea and feeling the salty breeze. We will be tasting wines from local wineries, cheesemakers and beekeepers and of course, Cretan extra virgin olive oil from our farm.
