Lovely, intimate French restaurant on the west side. The chef is insane (in a good way), the owner Sima is fabulous, and the pork shoulder is to die for.

Great BBQ with locations in Sylvan Park, 12 South & East Nashville. The pulled pork is fantastic, the brisket tacos are a delicious lunch special. They also make fantastic cocktails and have a very nice patio/deck with indoor/outdoor bar.

My favorite BBQ in Nashville, located in the gulch. Get their dry rub ribs - it's what they're famous for.

Family style excellent southern food. If you don't have a giant party, you'll be seated with others at a large table and excellent food will be passed around until you can't eat anymore :-)

We love to hike the Mossy Ridge Trail. It's about 5 miles but offers a really nice view of the skyline in the distance from the top of a hill and includes the dripping springs.

Vanderbilt’s campus is really beautiful to walk around (it’s literally across the street from the apartment!) and is a national arboretum, so every tree that grows naturally in Tennessee is represented on campus.

I like jogging in centennial park, where there’s a full-size exact replica of the Parthenon which was built for the World Fair at the turn of the century, and a mile long trail with nice ponds and gardens.

There are lots of famous bars downtown on Broadway, and although I don’t spend much time on broadway anymore I think the Dueling Piano Bar and ACME feed and seed are pretty fun. I recently went to George Jones rooftop bar and it was great, with an excellent view.

Pancake Pantry is walking distance and is popular with tourists, but I think it's worth the hype if you like pancakes. The Santa Fe cornmeal pancakes with jalapenos and bacon sounds weird but is very good, and their classic pancakes are also great. There will be a line but it moves fast! I recommend getting there very early.
