Drinks & Nightlife

I was among its first clients in 2003. Like Le Flore 50 years ago, it’s a neighborhood bar that turned into a Parisian institution. Workers come in for morning espresso, and then a younger crowd comes later to drink wine and enjoy the music selection by Madjik, the barman. If you show up alone, there’s little chance you’ll leave on your own. Few know that the bar has opened an art installation. Called the Kiss Room, it's a single hotel room that guests can book for a single night only. The tiny space is absolutely covered in 1,000 mirrors so that it appears endless.

La Cité de la Mode is always innovating! This new house music club opened there a 700 sq-meters underground and subversive scene. Located under the Wanderlust, it offers a sharp program of a high-class DJ line-up to entertain all sorts of electronic music lovers. Check the program before you go: some performances and nights might be more easily accessible to pre-sale tickets holders. In hot season, the club is open to the river and allows you to dance with the flow. In winter time, they take over Wanderlust and create a very Berlin style 3-stories club.

I love this nightclub/restaurant at La Cité de la Mode. It would be hard to have more fun in Paris. Two thousand people come every night to this giant, green complex by the river. You can drink and party on the terrace, attend screenings, or check out a show in the club. In summer, soul and hip-hop concerts are held every week—check the schedule before you come. Book dinner at the restaurant around 8 pm, before the show starts. That way, you can enjoy the concert and party from your table, with a great view of the Seine.

Food Scene

If you thought big party places only open in Berlin or Barcelona, this new activist dance club, bar, grocery store, and shop in a former barn will be a nice surprise. The look is retro and colonial, with mis-matched furniture on a checked floor. I like to go early to listen to African beats for a relaxed and chill kick-off to the night. It’s very popular, so aim to arrive before 8 pm on weekdays or after midnight on weekends. Sundays at 7 pm they host a free screening of an activist movie or documentary.

In just three years, the team that opened Le Niçois created a legend in the 11th arrondissement. The bar is all about open-minded fun, with a touch of great music. You’ll fall in love with its basement, where a real petanque strip is waiting for you! Clients easily become regulars and you can make great friends around the strip! Les Niçois means people from Nice, so act like a local: before heading to the petanque strip to compete with the regulars, order a Ricard and the legendary Pan Bagnat, a very fulfilling sandwich packed with tuna, eggs and raw vegetables.

Essentials

Recently opened in the high-heeled 8th arrondissement, La Reserve hotel has a very chic bar designed by Jacques Garcia. The best place to have your drink is actually the smoking area—have a rest in their comfortable leather sofas in the dedicated open-air patio. Hotel’s clients have access to the library and its warm and relaxing chimney. If you ask kindly, later at night, the dedicated staff can grant you access to the room where you can read a book while drinking a glass of excellent wine by the fire: a pure bliss.

I’ve created this place as a restaurant, a rooftop bar, an open-air cinema, a garden, and a lounge, all together in one hotel. The rooftop includes a bar and a small terrace, called “My very own terrace” that can be booked for private events. All food served at the Mob is organic and from Wednesday to Saturday, live music is played at the restaurant. Each bedroom of the hotel offers a king size bed...as well as an airbed so you can invite a friend over for the night or send away your snoring partner!
