Excellent location for walking, picnicking, running, or sledding (seasonal of course). Various playgrounds and a rec center (day fee applies) are available.

This park has some nice trails in one of the newer neighborhoods of Denver. This area used to be the old Stapleton Denver Airport. Many of the trees are still young, so not much tree cover.
