The Chiangdao cave sets in pretty grounds that teem with jungle butterflies and rare plants. The forest temple sits at the entrance to Chiang Dao Cave, a chilly warren of passageways that extend more than 10 km beneath the limestone massif of Doi Chiangdao. The cave is used to be a meditation retreat for monks and a sort of extension of the temple itself. The twisting tunnel networks are full of buddha statues and with stalactites and stalagmites.
