Since 1967, the Governor’s Mansion State Historic Park has welcomed visitors inside the home of the 13 governors and two private families who once lived here. Recently a $1 million preservation and maintenance project has transformed the mansion’s exterior and the carriage house back to pristine condition for the first time in decades.

Historic building built in 1877 and occupied by 13 California Governors. This is where Jerry Brown lived when his father was governor and since late 2015, this is the current residence of Governor Jerry Brown. The residence interior is currently closed to visitors.

Our original housing for the Governor can be seen by the public. Tour guides here relay funny stories such as Kathleen Brown painting the toes of the lion claw bathtub.
