If you want to sit on the steps of the library and use their free wifi, this is the place. And you can borrow books and dvd's.

The Atheneum is the heart and soul of the island. It is a place to pause and think and to quietly read a newspaper. It is the home of the Great Hall, site of important speeches made by Frederick Douglass, Emerson and Thoreau. It is where Maria Mitchell was a librarian for twenty years. It is a gracious library in a beautifully maintained, architecturally unique building.
