Tarragona is a small city with more than 2000 years of history. The only city in Catalonia declared a World Heritage Site by Unesco. Two thousand years ago, Tarragona was the capital of the largest province of the Roman empire: the hispania citerior tarraconensis province. The city where Emperor Augustus lived between 27 and 25 BC. Currently, 14 heritage elements form the archaeological site of Tarraco. Unrivaled monuments that coexist with the medieval city that was built later. We are talking, for example, of the Amphitheater with capacity for fourteen thousand people and the only one built by the sea; the Circus with a capacity for twenty-six thousand spectators, as many as those that currently fit in a soccer stadium, something incredible if we consider that the city had around twenty thousand inhabitants; the Aqueduct, better known by the Pont del Diable, an imposing construction 27 meters high; or the Provincial Forum, political and administrative center of the province and possibly the largest public work carried out in the Iberian Peninsula until the construction of the airports. This magnificent city with its fifteen kilometers of coastline, ten beaches with crystal clear water and golden sand, is waiting for you to discover it. The best way to locate ourselves in the history of Tarragona is with the app Image Tarraco. The mobile or the tablet thus becomes a “window to the past”, through which it is not only possible to admire the grandeur and original disposition of the monuments and ancient spaces that you are physically visiting, but above all, immerse yourself in the Living atmosphere of its time of splendor. The Imageen app allows you to see through your smartphone or tablet pc an archeological enclave as it was in the past, turning your device into a window into the past. Spreading ancient history in an attractive way that provokes reflection about our past. That was the aim when Tarraco Viva was set up in 1999. “History for everyone” could be the motto for this international festival dedicated to spreading the history of Roman times. Tarraco Viva has become a benchmark event thanks to both the proposals that it makes and the quality that it offers. Military life and daily life; the legions, the theatre, the gladiators, the homes, the cuisine, the writings, the engineering, the fashion... all recreated with a common denominator: exactness. Getting to know the past is not something that is confined, rather it is the best way to understand the present and, therefore, to be able to choose the future. You will probably discover that you are more Roman than you thought. Welcome to Tarraco!

Situado en la plaça de la Font, las casas adyacentes estan construidas sobre restos romanos, de ahí su estrechez. Es una plaza llena de vida, donde sus bares y restaurantes ambientan el dia a dia local. Ademas se celebran los castells.
