A spot frequented by denizens of Budapest in the Buda hills, Normafa is known for its panoramic scenery and fresh air. It is located on Svábhegy and is close to Jánoshegy, the highest point in Budapest. The name is derived from the name of a tree, the "Norma tree." Allegedly the beech tree was planted by King Matthias Corvinus in the 15th century. The name stuck when performers from the Hungarian National Theater visited it, where they performed Vincenzo Bellini's Norma.

Normafa is a beautiful hiking spot in the Buda Hills. If you want to breathe fresh air and want to admire the beautiful panorama of Buda, get in here anyway! The green oasis on the edge of the city has long been a popular hiking destination. To reach Normafa by public transportation, take bus 21 from Széll Kálmán Square to the Normafa stop, or bus 21A from Széll Kálmán Square to the end of the line. Don't miss it: 'Erzsébet kilátó' (Elisabeth Lookout), 'Gyerekvasút' (Children's Railway), 'Tündérhegy-Tüdérszikla' (Fairy Hill with Fairy Rock), 'Libegő' (chair Lift), 'Fogaskerekű' (Cog-wheel Railway).
