The Nest is less than 2 hours from the most amazing trees you will ever hug! Jedediah Smith is a wonderful place to commune with the Redwoods....and the ocean is right there!

In addition to hiking trails, there’s a few great places to lounge by the river for a swim. It tends to be about 10 degrees warmer and sunnier in the Redwoods compared to Crescent City, so if you’re looking for a place to warm up this is a great option. We recommend checking out the day use area in the Jedediah Smith Redwood National State Park. It’s a few dollars to park your car for the day. They offer picnic tables, BBQ pits, and it’s a safe area to bring kids to swim for the day. They even have life jackets available free of charge for kids to use while swimming!
