Swim with dolphins at Akaroa Harbour, where Hector’s dolphins — found only in New Zealand — visit the waters of the Banks Peninsula. Cruising the sheltered harbor by jet-powered catamaran so you can swim up close, you’ll learn from the highly trained crew how to interact safely with the world’s smallest and rarest dolphins. Just 10 passengers are permitted per vessel, ensuring an intimate experience in a small group. Wetsuit, masks and snorkel are provided, along with a hot shower on board.

It was phenomenal to swim alongside the dolphins! Such magical creatures and so in tune with their environment Much care is taken to ensure we care for them and their environment. To that end, you are not allowed in the water if the pod has birthed recently, nor to use any widlife tricks to encourage them to come to you, or to touch them. That said, dolphins are so friendly and inquisitive, they will find you, and appear to be more than happy to brush up against you - cheeky! I highly recommend this experience! Love Kim :) xxx
