Kritsa Gorge starts near the picturesque village of Kritsa and ends at the village Tapes. It’s 13km long, reaching a width of only 1.5m in some places and its ‘walls’ are 100m high. It is easily accessible with a few points that need attention, where you have to climb over some big rocks. You can walk all the length of it (6 hours) or only for 1,5 hour and then exit and follow an old path that leads to Kritsa village.

This is one of our favorite walks taking you 4 klms along the gorge and back to Kritsa village along the top of the gorge to join an old minion path that brings you back to the entrance. It is a beautiful walk especially during the spring time. During the hotter months it is recommended to walk the gorge early morning or late afternoon.

Kritsa Gorge starts near the village of Kritsa, and ends almost at the village Tapes. It’s 4km long and 1.5m wide in some places. It is easily accessible although in some points you have to climb over some big rocks but it is not too hard. The entrance of the gorge is impressive, the mountain has been cut in two, creating the narrow passage of Havgas (havgas is a another name for gorges in East Crete). Apart from the main entrance starting next to the stone bridge of Kritsa, there's a second one starting from the village. Try to walk through, admire the different colors of the rocks as well as the flowers during the spring which the best season to visit it.

A masterpiece of nature which deserves a visit is the gorge of Kritsa. Starts from Kritsa village and ends at Tapes village after a 10-12 km distance. The entrance is impressive with trees and shrubs, while the mountain looks like is torn in two! Pretty easily accessible with just a few points which need to be crossed over some big rocks but steel rods are already facilitated on them to male it easier. For about 4 km tall rocks of 100 mtr are surrounding the narrow path, (in a place it gets even to 1.5 m wide)

The gorge of Kritsa is an impressive easy accesible route, near the village. With rocks that tear in two creating a narrow passage almost 1.5 meters, you can admire the high walls and the anazing nature inside the canyon and the beautiful flowers escpecially at spring when everything is bloomed.
