The food is delicious. The restaurant is next to Newhaven Harbour and there is a good view from the restaurant of the lighthouse in the harbour.

This is very much a traditional pub with pub fare. Guests have told me they found it very friendly and thought it was the best pub for food in the area.

This is very near the flat and is excellent for a jog. If you walk past the shops and restaurants near the harbour you will see a footpath along the coast. Lovely views of Fife on the other side of the River Forth.

In all directions from the flat there are hiking/cycling trails along disused railway lines.These can take you to the centre of Edinburgh or to Leith or even towards Cramond.

The no 11 bus from Stanley Road takes you to the Fairmilehead junction. A short walk along Swanston Road takes you to the Hillend Ski centre and hill-walking country. There are circular walks ending up in Swanston village - or you could walk to Flotterstone where there is a pub. This too is on a bus route to Edinburgh - but not directly to Newhaven/Trinity. On the one side you can get views of Edinburgh and Arthur's Seat. Over the hill you can see a reservoir - and in fact feel as if you are in the depths of the countryside.

There are circular walks ending up in Swanston village - or you could walk to Flotterstone where there is a pub. This too is on a bus route to Edinburgh - but not directly to Newhaven/Trinity. On the one side you can get views of Edinburgh and Arthur's Seat. Over the hill you can see a reservoir - and in fact feel as if you are in the depths of the countryside.
You can walk here on the cycle paths - or take the 16 bus on the road passing the harbour to Silverknowes. At the terminus you walk down the hill to Marine Drive which is a coastal walk to Cramond.
The village is not much more than the kirk and a pub, but is quaint. Robert Louis Stevenson spent a lot of time there and the bistro/gallery has a mural of one of his poems on the wall.
Cramond Isle has a causeway to it when the tide is out - and you can go to the island and walk around. Check the tide tables though.
There is also a beach.
If you walk further you can get to the River Almond - more walks and a waterfall.
