Near the "Marathon Tymvos Square" and along the beach there are a lot of fish taverns, as well as bars. Some of them are quite touristy. But "O Psaras (The fisherman)" is considered "an old time classic", as quality is the same and prices are moderate.

Small Sessi (Mikro Sessi) Beach, resembles the beaches you find in Skiathos and Skopelos islands and is surrounded by a forest and a small meadow. Big Sessi (Megalo Sessi) Beach with small pebbled sand and tamarisk trees along the beachfront, providing shelter from the sun, as it is not organised. There are nearby taverns should you like to enjoy some Greek delicacies.

It is a port from where ferries go to the Cyclades and Evia islands, especially crowded during the summer months, but it is just like being on an island. It is the closest port to the Athens International Airport (30min drive). Rafina also has a long sandy beach, that is usually only crowded on Sunday. Lots of taverns serve fried squid (kalamarakia), small fish (marides), together with ouzo and Greek salad. If you love fried fish, beer, ouzo, wine and afternoons where you can drink and relax, spend one afternoon in Rafina.

Nea Makri boasts an exceptional scenery, distinct since nature has been generously endowed with the green of the forest and the blue of the sea. With a population of 36.000 people, Nea Makri has many shops, banks, high-end restaurants and bars. Along the coast, most of the restaurants cook high quality fresh fish and meat to order, though it is possible to find more traditional Greek meals in the town.  There are a few music bars, but they do not normally try to compete with each other, so a stroll along the coast is rarely spoiled by intrusive noise. There is also an open market once a week, selling fresh fruit and vegetables, as well as clothes, shoes, and household goods.
