Take lunch in the Duke of Marlborough restaurant (New Zealand’s oldest pub) and wonder round the local church which was at the centre of the 1845-1846 Maori wars in the area (old musket bullet holes are still visible in the timber siding). See http://www.theduke.co.nz/

Hole in the rock / dolphin watching /Otehei Bay / Cape Reinga cruises and tours. http://www.exploregroup.co.nz/content/media/377258/EXP-BOIBrochure-Winter-2017-FINAL-WEB.pdf We Highly recommend the cruises as they cover most of the outer bay to cape Brett where the hole in the rock island is located (iconic landmark here) you can see dolphins or whales on these trips and/or take in a lunch in Otehei Bay. This is a picturesque spot on Urupukapuka island that was made famous by Zane Grey – a US author and mad keen fisherman who set up camp here when he visited the bay in 1927 (http://www.bay-of-islands.co.nz/history/zanegrey/ )

Waitangi Mountain Bike Park. The WMBP is amongst our newest attractions in The Bay. It offers trails of varying difficulty with great flow and features, from introductory downhill riding, jump trails, cross country and beginner trails. The trail network, designed by Jeff Carter from Southstar Trails, has grown rapidly over the past six months and the trails cater to all levels of ability. There are plenty of fast, flowing berms, rollers and jumps. Grade 2 and 3 runs are so well built, they’re still fun for more advanced riders. See http://www.wmbp.nz/
