Food Scene

Raven's Creek features a café, delicious food menu, and spacious indoor and outdoor seating. In the right season, it's a pick-your-own-berry farm. Many of the ingredients used in food prep are grown or raised on their own farm. The staff members are always charming and friendly.

The Moriac General Store is a quaint little establishment with a café and plenty of outdoor seating. They serve wine from the local vineyards and sometimes host music events. It's a lovely 10-min walk from our house. They have meat and vegetarian options on the menu, as well as quick take-away counter service. The store sells esssentials - bread, butter, cheese, wine, limited groceries.

This place looks a bit like Willa Wonka's factory. They have a gazillion different types of chocolate for sale as well as a dessert and ice cream counter. There are windows allowing you to peer into the chocolate factory portion of the building. Some of the chocolates on offer feature local, indigenous ingredients. There's a children's play area outside.

The shopping centre is massive and has every type of store imaginable - groceries, pharmacy, auto repairs, movie theatre, restaurants - everything. Coles, Woolworths, Kmart, Target, Priceline, BWS, Liqourland, Reading Cinema. It's a sprawling labyrinth of pure consumerism.

Arts & Culture

Geelong Gallery features modern and classical art by Australian artists. The main galleries are free (special exhibitions may charge for entry - I'm not sure). Adjacent to the gallery are a library, a café and a lovely park decorated with sculpture.

Parks & Nature

The Geelong Botanic Gardens are beautifully curated. They pack quite a bit of biological diversity into a small area. The large ginko tree in the Japanese Garden is astonishing! There's a small tea house in the garden - nothing impressive but a nice place to relax with a pot of tea, especially if the weather's favourable. Entry is free.
