Food Scene in Chorlton

My local neighbourhood is known for its independent bars, delis & restaurants. Outside the city centre we have the most diverse and exciting food and drink scene in Manchester - this is just a sample. Something for every taste and every budget!
The best bakery in Manchester - they supply the fanciest restaurants and hotels in the region with their Polish-style sourdough loaves and pastries. Also great for cured meats and cheeses. Serves sandwiches, cakes and coffee on the covered front terrace and on Saturdays there is always a queue for the sausage barbecue.

Drinks & Nightlife (Chorlton & City Centre)

At the weekends people flock to Chorlton from all over Manchester and around to bring the pubs and bars alive! We have everything from the big chains like Wetherspoons (super cheap and fairly downmarket but always in quirky buildings) to one-off bars specialising in craft beers, fine wines or cocktails.

Sightseeing

Manchester's historic significance as the world's first industrial city is vividly on display in its magnificent 19th century buildings in the signature Victorian Gothic style, but these now sit side by side with some exciting 21st century architecture too. Seek out the places that were home to world-famous scientific discoveries, cultural revolutions and literary icons. Manchester is particularly famed for some astonishingly beautiful libraries, and in the midst of all the city bustle there are peaceful spots by the canals, and Medieval gems from a quieter age.
An architectural treasure and the centrepiece of Manchester city centre. When open, there are guided tours of the inside, including up the clock-tower to get great views over the city but the Town Hall is currently closed until 2024, undergoing extensive renovations. Albert Square is still very much the heart of city life however, with festivals and the Christmas markets occupying centre stage for much of the year.

Canal Street was once dank and run-down, in an age when LGBT+ people gathered to socialise secretively in the near-forgotten canalside pubs leftover from an industrial age. These days the canal is clean and the neighbourhood is party central! it's gloriously colourful, loud and vibrant, attracting plenty of tourists to the carnival atmosphere on weekends and hosting the annual Manchester Pride festival. If you explore between the wall-to-wall bars, you can also get your hair cut, shop for deli food, join an LGBT support group or sports club, eat dinner, take a quiet moment in the park, or drop in for advice at the LGBT Centre.
