One of the gems of Cincinnati and a must-see for art lovers. The CAC is always free (closed on Tuesdays) and has regularly-changing exhibits. Sometimes all you want is a quick stroll on one of their 6 floors, and sometimes you find a couple of hours of amazing art! The 6th floor has a children's space that's fun for everyone! The cafe is a great spot for a light lunch or snack.

They describe themselves as "...an artistic playground where artists and audiences can come together to produce and experience work that could not be done anywhere else." Know produces premiere, visually inventive works that fully explore the essence of what live theatre can be. They are committed to producing works that contain voices that are traditionally underrepresented on stages regionally and nationally. Very affordable, with a nice lobby bar, which is great, because seating is not assigned. Lobby opens 1 hour before curtain. If you're willing to take a chance, there are $15 rush tickets sold ten minutes before curtain. Don't miss Fringe Festival each June!

Cincinnati's historic suspension bridge is not only a city icon, it was the prototype for the more famous Brooklyn Bridge. John A. Roebling finished Cincinnati's bridge in 1866, and at the time, it was the longest suspension bridge in the world at 1,057 feet main span. Four years later the Brooklyn Bridge was started, and not completed until 1870. A great photo opportunity, and just a short walk across the bridge you'll find Roebling Point, in Covington, Kentucky with some nice places for food, coffee, a craft beer, or a nice cocktail. You'll walk past "The Ascent," the striking blue-white condo.

This striking condominium was designed by Daniel Libeskind, a world-renowned architect. Libeskind won the competition to be the master plan architect for the reconstruction of the World Trade Center site in Lower Manhattan. You can see The Ascent from across the river, but it's worth the walk over the Roebling Bridge, which takes you to the Roebling Point neighborhood of Covington, Kentucky. You'll find a nice cluster of places for coffee, drinks, and food.

I'll let them say it: "Vespa and espresso culture collides in Urbana Cafe from the walls to the espresso machine, from its relaxed environment to the energizing espresso offerings. The multi-level cafe offers the choice to observe passers-by and operation in the balcony-style bar on the 2nd floor, or watch the art of cooking and espresso making as it occurs in the open-floor design." Drinks & Nightlife

Perhaps the best local beer in the city, in an amazing space - the former St. Paulus Kirche, originally a German Evangelical Protestant church, built in 1850. It is the second oldest church in the city, which nearly fell over in a storm in 2010, and has been beautifully restored as a craft beer hall. It has three bars on three levels: the upstairs choir loft, the main beer hall, and at street-level is Nellie's bar, which has a more intimate, neighborhood feel. The food is great, especially the tri-tip steak, which they age, rub, smoke, and char. Nellie's stays open late. They always have a diverse selection of craft beers, and their cocktails are excellent!

One of fastest growing craft brewers in America. The Rhinegeist taproom is a ten-minute walk, just past historic Findlay Market. If you've been downtown, it's also easy to hop on the streetcar, which takes you directly to Rhinegeist's doorstep. Not only do they have a diverse and delicious selection of craft beer and dry cider, they occupy the former bottling plant of the Kauffman Brewery, which did not survive prohibition. It's an enormous and lively space that can house events normally requiring out-door parks. No food service, but you can order take-in!

In just a few months, Queen City Radio has become the neighborhood hangout for Over the Rhine. This old auto garage has been transformed into a fun bar, with it's own food truck on site. The food is not fancy, but affordable and satisfying: burgers, chili dogs, fries, and boozy slushies. They have a great selection of craft beers and a full bar. On a cold day, there is a heated patio enclosure, and when the weather is nice, they have an enormous open-air deck that becomes quite festive. Dogs are welcome. A five-minute walk.

One of several great establishments owned and operated by Molly Wellmann, Cincinnati's most famous and iconic mixologist. Japp's is famous for its fresh, original cocktails. If you don't see anything on the menu, chat with one of their bartenders... tell them what you like... and they can whip up something amazing just for you. It's got a great decor, and often features live music, frequently jazz.

This is a unique atmosphere, as if you stepped into an old-time apothecary, or the potion shop in Diagon Alley (Harry Potter). They concoct fresh, unique cocktails in this particular apothecary! In a short amount of time, Sundry and Vice has earned a reputation for original, freshly-made, delicious mixed drinks. One block away!

An amazing bar and nightclub located in one of Cincinnati's many deep-underground beer-lagering structures. More than 150 years ago, before refrigeration, brewing companies used underground lagering tunnels for cooling and aging the beer they produced. Ghost Baby is located in the tunnels formerly used by a Cincinnati brewing company; four stories under Vine street. The company discontinued beer production in the 1850's and these tunnels have remained vacant until recently. The nightclub normally needs a reservation. After Midnight, it get's easier to walk in and get a table.

Entertainment & Activities

This is the cultural center of Over the Rhine. This manicured park features seasonal flowers and plantings, a sunny green, and a shady lawn. It features a large stage for bigger performances, plus a small gazebo for more intimate performances, and throughout the summer there is a variety of free entertainment. There's a great playground for kids, including a magnificent water fountain area for kids to play in when it's hot. At night the fountains light up with a changing colored display. And there's a very popular dog park. My favorite feature is the deck, with a nice bar and big deck chairs that provide a great view of everything.
